Volkswagen Golf SportWagen and Golf Allatrack will appear on the US markets, but sales in Europe remain a big question.
The press service of the German automaker has just confirmed that the new, eighth generation of the hatchback Golf, which debuts next month, will get a version with an extended roof. Note that exactly one year ago, representatives of the company said that Volkswagen may stop production of the versatile Golf Wagon with the emergence of a generation MK8. However, this information was not confirmed and the Golf Wagon will live on.
In another press release, which referred to the meeting between the employees of the VW plant in Wolfsburg and the management of the company, the company briefly mentions that “all production of the Golf Variant will be moved to the main plant here in Wolfsburg”. The current Golf is made in Zwickau, Germany.
For fans of station wagons, this is definitely good news. Buyers legendary Golf Europe will be able to purchase a new Golf Wagon next year, when the sale will be a more practical option Golf MK8. In North America, however, it will be a different story, at least for the model 2020.
In the US, the new Golf will be available only in the versions GTI and R, which does not appear within a year or so. In Canada you can buy the new Golf Wagon, but this is not a new generation. Instead, the local branch of the German manufacturer will sell cars 2019 model year, and has not yet decided on the wagon the next generation.
