Volkswagen has hinted at a Microbus renaissance for decades as the Microbus concept debuted at the 2001 North American International Auto Show and was followed in 2011 by the Bulli Concept.
The manufacturer announced the ID Buzz concept back at the 2017 North American International Auto Show. It is now almost ready for production as Volkswagen has declared 2022 as the year of ID. Buzz.
To spark the anticipation of the electric minivan, Volkswagen has released a new teaser that takes a look at the model’s headlights and signature LED lighting. The teaser goes on to show what looks like illuminated doorknobs and lanterns that create a distinctive pattern on the ground.

More details coming in the coming months, but ID. Buzz will be offered in a variety of configurations, from a cargo van to a stand-alone option. Specifications remain a closely guarded secret, but the model is expected to be offered in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
If ID.4 is any indication, the entry-level model will get a rear-mounted electric motor that develops 201bhp. and 310 Nm of torque. The all-wheel drive variant can be equipped with a twin-engine transmission, providing a total power of 295 hp. and 459 Nm of torque.
We won’t have to wait long to find out the full details as Volkswagen previously released the Buzz ID and ID. Buzz Cargo will be presented in the spring of 2022.
