The electric Volkswagen ID.3 in the first year of its presence on the European market allowed the brand to take a leading position in new car sales in many countries. At the start of sales of the model, more than 144 thousand orders were received, while about 50 percent of them accounted for new customers who had not previously driven Volkswagen and were not owners of cars of this brand, the press service of the company reports.

According to Klaus Zellmer, Member of the Management Board of the company responsible for sales, the electric ID.3 was a hit and attracted new customer groups to Volkswagen.

For comparison, other Volkswagen models have an average share of new customers of about 36 percent. In the first half of this year, high demand for ID.3 and other models of the ID family. allowed the Volkswagen brand to break out into the leaders of the European electric car market. In August, this model became the most popular electric car in many markets – Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Austria and Switzerland. An analysis of the registration of new cars showed that in August ID.3 took 1st place in Western Europe.

To meet high demand, approximately 1.2 thousand electric cars roll off the assembly lines every day in Zwickau and Dresden, with both production lines at the Zwickau plant running in 3 shifts. In addition, production for the Chinese market began in the city of Anting: the car will appear on the Chinese market in the fall of 2021.
