The German automaker has published official pictures of its new Volkswagen Taos crossover for the Latin American market. If you compare these two versions, you can find some differences, including a modified front bumper diffuser, a slightly modified bumper shape, and, most importantly, an led strip that runs across the entire width of the grille.
However, the interior of the compact crossover is identical to the model for the United States and the car for Brazil. So, in the cabin, there is an 8.0-inch screen of a fully digital dashboard and several trim options. The seats look comfortable and beautiful, and there is enough legroom for passengers in the back row.
But the engine range for these cars differs. While the model available in the US has received a new 1.5-litre TSI engine from Volkswagen (already available in several Volkswagen Group models in Europe), the Brazilian version of Taos has to settle for the older 1.4 TSI. It generates 150 HP of power, while the model for the US is more powerful – 158 HP in Brazil, the new Taos is equipped with either an 8-speed ??automatic transmission (for the front-wheel drive model), or 7-speed ??robotic DSG with dual clutch (for all-wheel drive.
The crossover will be assembled in Puebla (Mexico) for the North American market, and deliveries to South American countries will be made from the Volkswagen plant in Argentina. It is expected that sales in both regions will begin next year, and the first copies will begin to ship to the United States.
