VW showed a budget sedan

Volkswagen has unveiled the updated Lavida budget sedan, featuring two front-end designs and a reimagined interior with a 12-inch touch screen. The public premiere of the model will take place in April at the Beijing Motor Show, but there are no secrets left – the technical stuffing with restyling has not been changed, which means that a significant increase in prices from the current 113-159 thousand yuan should not be expected.

Volkswagen Lavida is the brand’s bestseller in China. Over 14 years, over five million copies have been found by buyers, of which almost half have been sold in the last five years. Therefore, you should not be surprised at the two design options with planned restyling. Variability is achieved through different bumpers and radiator grilles, and special wheels emphasize the difference.

Signs of the “sported” Lavida Star Edition – a radiator grill divided in two by a luminous strip of daytime running lights, contrasting rear-view mirrors and five-lobed 17-inch wheels. Regular Lavidas have a more traditional face with a rectangular grille section.

In the cabin, the updated sedans are almost the same – Lavida has found a multimedia system with a “floating” 12-inch touchscreen, which required a redesign of the front panel. A virtual dashboard, a touch-sensitive climate control panel and a multi-steering wheel were on the “state employees” before, although all of the above are the prerogatives of the top trim levels.

Probably, Lavida Star Edition will be available only with a 150-horsepower 1.4 TSI engine and a 7-speed DSG “robot”, and for ordinary sedans they will retain simpler combinations with a naturally aspirated 1.5 engine, 5-speed “mechanics” or 6-band “automatic”. Front-wheel drive has no alternative.

The updated Volkswagen Lavida should enter the Chinese market after the April motor show in Beijing. Restyling arrived in time, because in the last two years, sedan sales have been falling, although nothing threatens absolute leadership in the Chinese classification.
