Waymo launches unmanned car without a driver-tester

Waymo CEO John Krafcik stated that the firm, which is developing Autonomous technologies, is now offering certain customers a trip “exclusively for passengers” in Phoenix, Arizona.

Thus, the company Waymo began to offer fully automated travel without staff for certain privileged users of the service robotic taxi in Phoenix.

While it is still unknown when and how fast Waymo is going to expand services “for passengers only”. According to the Krafcik, customers who have subscribed to an automated service, took a nondisclosure agreement.

The Krafcik also noted that Waymo continues to search for new methods of selling their own technology, except for services of a robotic taxi.

The firm has been testing the so-called automated driver trucks Peterbilt intends to expand the use of this technology in the field of freight transportation and commercial delivery in the framework of the project called “Husky”.

In Waymo stressed that having their own system on trucks in Michigan, Arizona and Georgia. But the company added that the current legislation does not allow the use of heavy trucks without a driver.
