What was the Hemi V8 exchanged for?

Rumors that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was developing a new 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine have been around for a long time, even before the merger with PSA and the formation of Stellantis. The new engine was known as the Tornado. It was expected that the new engine could appear along with the revived Wagoneer SUV, however this did not happen and it debuted with V8 engines. Then it was expected that the new engine would appear along with the short Grand Cherokee, but this did not happen either.

During a press conference at the Chicago Auto Show, Jim Morrison, head of Jeep North America, hinted at a question about the engine that the new engine could be shown at the New York Auto Show from April 15 to 24.

The new 3-litre inline-six will also be available with a 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain. The new engine will be comparable in power to the 5.7-liter V8, which has 397 hp. and 548 Nm of torque.

By the way, in a few years, Dodge and RAM will introduce their first electric cars, a muscle car and a pickup truck, and they should be more powerful than the new Tornado.
