If Cybertruck will have poor sales results, Tesla will replace it with a more traditional pickup.
Tesla Cybertruck looks completely different than any truck offered on the market. This was done on purpose, because Tesla CEO Elon Musk acknowledged that he did not care what customers want from the truck: he just wanted to create something amazing. Without a doubt, this approach has a long list of risks but the returns can also be huge. In an interview, Musk said that he had not done the market research, which carried out major brands before you can create a new model.
“Research?”, he said before bursting into laughter. “We just made a machine that, in our opinion, is awesome and looks super weird. I just wanted to create a futuristic battle tank of Blade Runner or Aliens, or something like that, but very functional.”
Buyers from traditional pickup trucks are unlikely to be willing to buy Cybertruck, but the Mask seems looking far beyond, attracting those who usually do not even think about buying a truck, but like him, I just want something cool and atypical. Currently, Tesla Cybertruck has more than 620 thousand pre-orders, though this does not mean that all reservations will translate into sales. However, it is a sign that non-traditional design Cybertruck conquers all traditional foundations.
But what if sales Cybertruck will be a complete failure? If the initial excitement of the launch phase subside before the first copies will begin to roll off the production line at the new Tesla Gigafactory, which is currently being built in Austin, Texas?
“This may be the best sports car than a Porsche 911, a better truck than the F-150, and he is armored and looks like something from the future. It was a goal that suggested that may be a complete failure. But I’m not very worried, because if it turns out that nobody wants to buy strange looking truck, we will build a normal truck, no problem. There are many conventional trucks, which look about the same: you can hardly see the difference. And of course, we could just make multiple copies of the trucks, it’s easy. So what is our exit strategy,” – said Musk.
It is also a risky strategy, but Musk likes to take risks. He did not get to where is today without it.
“If they like Cybertruck, cool. If not, then Yes. We’re not trying to play some marketing game. We’re just trying to create products that people will love”.
