Known tuning Studio Alpina introduced an upgraded version of the diesel BMW 3-Series. Alpina is already taking orders on the new D3’s and will start deliveries of its new products in November.
Alpina introduced the new B3 with a gasoline engine (heavily modified version of the usual BMW 3-Series) in October 2019, and now is the turn to diesel performance cars. Machine received the designation D3 S. Under the hood is a new 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that provides the power of 350 horsepower and an enormous torque of 730 Nm. Compared with the standard indicators Bavarian M340d, power was increased by 15 HP and torque by 30 Nm.
As for performance, the Alpina D3 S accelerates to 100 km/h from standstill in 4.6 seconds in the case of the sedan and 4.8 seconds for the slightly heavier wagon. Interestingly, these same numbers published by BMW for their models M340d. According to the specialist BMW, sedan speeds up to 273 mph, while the Touring (station wagon) can accelerate to 270 km/h.
All the torque for diesel Alpina D3’s available already at 1750 rpm.
This is the first model of the company, which uses a mild hybrid technology BMW, which, besides ensuring even lower fuel consumption, also provides additional acceleration at low engine speeds, while improving throttle response.
Alpina has upgraded eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox to handle the added power and provide a faster shift. Models use D3’s rear with limited slip differential with electronic control as standard equipment, as well as suspension settings and chassis.
D3’s got the brake system from a larger sedan B5 Bi-Turbo (Series 5) at the same time getting a subtle style enhancement. The car comes standard with 19-inch wheels, and as a separate option you can order a 20-inch set.
Alpina is already taking orders on the new D3’s and will start deliveries of its new products in November. “Home” in Germany the price for the sedan starts with a mark in the 70 500 euros, and universal -71 900 euros.
