Haval expands its SUV lineup with the X Dog, a retro-styled model that will rise a notch above the Big Dog, for the Chinese market. According to new data, the novelty will go on sale in the second half of 2022 and, most likely, will receive engines of 1.5 and 2.0 liters, as well as a hybrid power plant. In total, Haval has planned five off-road vehicles with the word dog in the title.
X Dog is similar in design to Big Dog. It has an angular body shape, a long bonnet, matte black “circle” faceplates, and round headlights with an X-shaped LED pattern. The production version is likely to retain retractable door handles and seven interior screens, including a digital dashboard, a huge multimedia touchscreen, as well as displays on the steering wheel, center tunnel and door cards.
Haval X Dog debuted in April 2021, but then the novelty was called a pre-production prototype. It is expected that the “commercial” version will receive three modifications: two versions with conventional engines of 1.5 and 2.0 liters, a pair of which will be a seven-speed “robot”, as well as a hybrid version with a charging function and installation based on a 1.5-liter ICE.
No plans to launch X Dog outside of China have been announced yet.
