World Car of the Year: Who will win?


The organizers of the World Car of the Year (WCOTY) competition have announced a shortlist of candidates for the World Car of the Year title. The winners will be announced on April 20. The expert jury consisted of 90 automotive journalists from 29 countries.

This year’s Audi A3, BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe and BMW 4-Series are competing for the grand prize. They will compete with Honda e, KIA K5 and KIA Sorento. In addition, the list of contenders includes Mazda MX-30, Mercedes GLA, Toyota Yaris and Volkswagen ID.4.

In addition, experts have identified contenders for victory in four separate categories. Honda Jazz / Fit, Hyundai i10 / Grand i10, Hyundai i20, Honda e and Toyota Yaris claim to win in the City Car nomination. Five cars will compete for the first place in the “Luxury Car” category at once. Among them: Aston Martin DBX, BMW X6, Land Rover Defender, Mercedes S-Class and Polestar 2.

In turn, Audi RS Q8, BMW M2 CS, BMW X5 M / X6 M, as well as Toyota GR Yaris and Porsche 911 Turbo apply for the title of “Sports Car of the Year”. Finally, Honda e, Land Rover Defender, Mazda MX-30, Polestar 2 and Porsche 911 Turbo will compete for the best car award.

The large crossover KIA Telluride became the winner of last year’s World Car of the Year competition. In addition to the Korean SUV, two Mazda contenders for the title of the best model – “treshka” and CX-30.
