X Cannon pickup: Great Wall moves into heavyweights

FineAuto

The Chinese concern Great Wall Motor is experiencing a period of rapid growth – the company presented at the Shanghai Motor Show not only new crossovers under the Haval and Tank brands, Ora electric vehicles, but also a huge pickup truck of its main brand Great Wall.

Great Wall X Cannon is a frame monster with a length of over 5.7 m with a two-row four-door cab and a 3.0-liter V-shaped 6-cylinder gasoline engine (power – 354 hp, torque – 500 Nm) … The engine is aggregated with a 9-speed automatic transmission, the drive is rear or full (optional).

The car is designed to compete with the American Ford F-Series, Chevrolet Silverado, Ram 1500, as well as the Japanese Toyota Tundra. The X Cannon rests on a new platform with an independent double wishbone rear suspension – which is quite unexpected, since pickups usually use a continuous axle at the rear with leaf springs.

The brutal design of the car with rectangular headlights and a massive chrome grille was created in accordance with the strategy of creating its own recognizable Great Wall style.

By 2025, Great Wall wants to enter the top 3 largest pickup truck manufacturers in the world. The company plans to produce 500 thousand cars of this type per year. X Cannon will enter the assembly line towards the end of 2021, and they plan to actively export it outside of China.

Although it is definitely an unfinished replica, I would be interested in contact details, anyway. Maybe this could be an interesting project.
